Impeach Survey Results

In a recent survey, we asked our supporters for their thoughts on the Trump Presidency thus far, and whether or not the President’s consistently reckless behavior warrants decisive action from Congress as whispers of impeachment have grown louder in the halls of Capitol Hill every day.
Over 9,300 of PTP’s most dedicated supporters participated in the survey, a whopping 99% of whom responded that Trump’s first six months in office have been an unprecedented failure. Unsurprisingly, 98% of respondents also consider Donald Trump to be the worst president in their lifetime, which is saying a lot given the short amount of time that he has occupied the Oval Office compared to previously unpopular presidents who required at least a full term to tank their approval rating.
One reason for Trump’s widespread lack of support among our supporters is his use of Twitter, which 97% of respondents disapproved of. Although Trump has defended his tweets as a method for communicating his vision directly with the American people, he has more often than not used the platform to attack his opponents, including Federal Judges, Gold Star families, and Congressmen from both sides of the aisle. 95% of respondents believe this behavior is unacceptable for a President to do.
Another potential factor contributing to Trump’s disapproval is the Republican “health care bill” that failed to pass through Congress last week despite excessive pressure from the White House. Clearly the Republican effort, led by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, to rewrite the rules for ⅙ of our economy while kicking over 20 million Americans off health insurance was (and still is) a serious threat that concerned many of our supporters. Nearly three quarters of those surveyed were not surprised to see the destructive bill fail to pass congress, but 23% weren’t so sure.

Even though nearly a quarter of respondents were not confident in Congressional Democrats’ ability to block Trumpcare, it is clear that they have even less confidence in Trump’s persuasive abilities. 96% of supporters think that Trump is a serial liar and not the “Master” deal-maker that he claims to be, which became evident after his failure to exert executive influence over the Senate Republican majority to compromise on an Obamacare replacement that they had been demanding for 7 years.
It came as no surprise that Trump immediately deflected blame for the Republican failure to repeal ACA to Democrats, who stood united in both the House and Senate in rejecting the horrible proposals. One thing is undeniably true, any effort to impeach President Trump, let alone keep his dangerous administration in check, depends upon progressive voters around the country turning out on election day and electing Democrats to Congress. That is why we felt it necessary to ask our supporters whether or not they agree that decreasing the Republican majority in Congress is essential to protecting Obama’s crowning achievement in the future. Of those surveyed, 98% agreed that we need MORE Democrats in Congress to fight back against Trump’s agenda.
