Progressive Turnout Project: We Must Empower, not Suppress, Black and Brown Voters in Georgia, Nevada, and South Carolina

“The closer we get to Election Day, the harder we need to work to turn out voters of color in critical states like Georgia, South Carolina, and Nevada.

“Yet, today’s Election Day debacle in Georgia shows the rampant voter suppression faced by Black and Brown voters. Democrats in Congress must use every lever they have to force expanded ballot access and vote by mail for 2020. Any future legislative deal that addresses the pandemic or police brutality, but fails to tackle the systemic racism in our electoral process, would be a colossal misstep.

“Progressive Turnout Project will be on the ground in Georgia and South Carolina this summer and fall to empower voters, not suppress them. When more people vote, we will elect progressives who will fight for voting rights and take on systemic racism.” — Alex Morgan, Executive Director, Progressive Turnout Project

Progressive Turnout Project is a grassroots-funded political action committee with a single mission: get Democrats to the polls. PTP designs, tests, and executes specialized voter-turnout programs targeting inconsistent Democratic voters in the most competitive elections across the country. In 2020, the organization will invest $52.5 million to knock on over 10.1 million doors and get out the vote in 17 presidential and Senate battleground states.
