House Passes Historic Democracy Reform Bill
Progressive Turnout Project Executive Director Alex Morgan released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 1, For The People Act.

“Today, the House of Representatives put us one step closer to fixing our broken democracy by passing H.R.1, For The People Act. This landmark legislation addresses three of the biggest flaws in our democracy – protecting and expanding voting rights, overhauling campaign finance reforms, and strengthening our ethics laws.”
“H.R.1 ensures that the power and voices of the people are heard and reduces the outsized influence of corporations, special interests, and wealthy donors.”
“We applaud Speaker Pelosi and the 236 Democratic cosponsors of H.R.1 for hearing voters loud and clear and restoring power back to the American people.”
“Our democracy works best when everyone can participate and H.R.1 does just that by calling for comprehensive voting rights reforms. From establishing automatic voter registration, to expanding early voting, and stopping voter roll purges – the For The People Act makes access to the ballot box easier and more accessible for everyone.”
“As an organization focused increasing voter turnout, Progressive Turnout Project was proud to support H.R.1 and work with 70 organizations to deliver more than 500,000 petitions to members of Congress to ensure this bill passed.”
“H.R 1 is a transformative piece of legislation and now it is one step closer to becoming law of the land.”
