Progressive Turnout Project Endorses Phil Murphy for New Jersey Governor
CHICAGO — Progressive Turnout Project today endorsed Governor Phil Murphy in his reelection campaign for New Jersey governor, based on his proven commitment to voting accessibility across the state. Below is a statement from Progressive Turnout Project’s Executive Director, Alex Morgan:
“Over the past four years, Governor Phil Murphy has championed voting accessibility and voting rights across the Garden State, by passing common sense legislation aimed at giving New Jersey voters the freedom to vote, and ensuring elections remain secure.
“As voting rights across the country are under attack, we need trailblazers like Phil who are leading the way for voters to have expanded access to participate in the political process. As Governor, Phil has instituted automatic voter registration, established secure online voter registration, expanded access to vote-by-mail, and allowed for nine days of in-person early voting.
“Phil’s commitment to expanded ballot access resulted in increased voter participation across the state, including the highest youth voter turnout rate in the nation in 2020 (67%).
“Progressive Turnout Project, including its dozens of Voter Turnout Fellows, thousands of Postcards to Swing States volunteers, and millions of supporters, plan to work tirelessly between now and November 2 to ensure New Jersey Democrats get out to vote, so that Phil and Democrats up and down the ticket can continue building a state that works for all New Jerseyans.”
