Progressive Turnout Project Applauds Steve Bullock’s Plan for Better Elections
Progressive Turnout Project Executive Director Alex Morgan released the following statement:

“Steve Bullock’s Restoring Our Democracy plan is the latest win for voters in the presidential primary.”

“Democrats have a long list of repairs to make when we take back the White House, and this field recognizes that the first fix needs to be repairing our broken democracy. That means empowering voters to hold their elected officials accountable — with a new Voting Rights Act, automatic voter registration, restored voting rights for formerly incarcerated people, and federal funds for local election officials.”

“These measures, also laid out in the groundbreaking For The People Act (H.R. 1), make a clear statement of our party’s values: voting should be easy and secure. Voters elected Democrats on that message in 2018, and now we need a President who will sign these reforms into law. We applaud Governor Bullock’s leadership in championing voting rights.”

“Progressive Turnout Project does not plan to endorse candidates in the primary. In 2020, we’re launching voter turnout programs across the country — backed by our largest investment ever — to elect a Democratic president and a Senate majority to pass their agenda. That starts with voting rights. We’re proud to have a strong field of candidates keeping those issues front and center in this primary.”
