Progressive Turnout Project endorses Ammar Campa-Najjar in CA-50
Grassroots-funded organization seeks to end Republican culture of corruption in 50th congressional district

CHICAGO—Progressive Turnout Project today endorsed Ammar Campa-Najjar for Congress. The grassroots-funded organization is proud to support the progressive champion in California’s 50th congressional district and stand up to the culture of corruption embodied by Republican Duncan Hunter.
“Ammar Campa-Najjar knows that being a progressive is about providing opportunity for all Californians, regardless of socioeconomic status or ethnicity,” said Executive Director Alex Morgan. “Ammar will put California residents first by fighting for genuine reforms like expanding Medicare and bringing good-paying jobs to the district.”
Today’s endorsement is part of a larger effort by Progressive Turnout Project to expand its impact in the 2018 election. The grassroots-funded organization released an expansive watch list in January and followed up with the announcement of 18 field programs in May. PTP hired a Fellows Program Coordinator in July to support additional candidates and recently announced a $1.8 million digital investment.
“Our more than 3 million supporters and 232,000 grassroots donors have been loud and clear that we need to do everything we can to win by supporting candidates who will represent our values and defend our democracy,” said Morgan.
Progressive Turnout Project asks campaigns to complete an endorsement questionnaire that asks about critical voting rights issues such as the restoration of the Voting Rights Act, automatic voter registration, early voting, no-excuse absentee voting, and voter ID laws. The organization will continue to announce endorsements as it receives and reviews completed candidate questionnaires.
