Progressive Turnout Project on WI Election: Republicans and SCOTUS Put Anti-Voter Agenda Before Their Constitutional Duty

“Today is a dark day for our democracy. Republicans can’t win unless they suppress the vote, so of course they refused to extend vote-by-mail deadlines when the global pandemic shuttered all but a handful of polling places. Republicans don’t care about their constitutional duty or your right to vote — not if it means that they benefit politically.

“Let’s be absolutely clear: based on the present circumstances, the Wisconsin primary is not a legitimate election.

“Congressional Democrats must refuse to pass any “Phase 4” stimulus package that doesn’t include fully funded and universal vote-by-mail. Roberts’ kangaroo court will overturn any ad-hoc state efforts. We need federal action now to stop this electoral chaos, protect American voters, and preserve our democracy.” Alex Morgan, Executive Director, Progressive Turnout Project

PTP designs, tests, and executes specialized voter-turnout programs targeting inconsistent Democratic voters in the most competitive elections across the country. In 2020, the organization will invest $52.5 million to knock on over 10.1 million doors and get out the vote in 17 presidential and Senate battleground states.
