Progressive Turnout Project Endorses 146 Legislative Candidates in Minnesota

National group endorses robust slate as part of effort to rally Democrats to vote

August 10, 2022

CHICAGO–Progressive Turnout Project is proud to announce the endorsement of 146 state legislative candidates across Minnesota. These candidates are essential to maintaining the House majority, flipping the Senate, and supporting Governor Walz as he stands up against Republicans’ extreme agenda for the state.

In addition to the organization’s endorsements, PTP will bring an investment of up to $250,000 to the Minnesota DFL to support their efforts as part of PTP’s Campaign Fellows program. Fellows will be paid staff members dedicated to voter contact. Adding these full-time staff members can make all the difference, especially for down ballot races, which typically see less attention. This kind of direct voter contact is how elections are won—and PTP is thrilled to offer this level of support to Minnesota Democrats.

“The Minnesota House DFL is looking forward to working with the Progressive Turnout Project and their Fellows Program,” said Speaker Melissa Hortman. “We pride ourselves on having one of the strongest field programs in the country, and this partnership will help us reach more Minnesotans than ever before. With reproductive freedom, gun safety, climate action, and protecting our democracy on the line in 2022, these resources will help us preserve our House majority and ensure a better quality of life for Minnesotans.”

“Flipping the Minnesota Senate from Republican to DFL control is critically important to Minnesota’s future, and the partnership with PTP is an essential part of our winning campaign plan,” added Senate Democratic Leader Melisa Lopez-Franzen. “We look forward to working closely with PTP to amplify our efforts to engage and mobilize voters across the state in November and elect a DFL majority that’s ready to win and ready to lead on Day One.”

Progressive Turnout Project is investing over $5 million to elect Democrats in state legislatures across the country to combat Republican attempts at undermining the future of our communities.
