Progressive Turnout Project Endorses 113 Legislative Candidates in Pennsylvania

National group endorses robust slate eligible for up to $400,000 staff investment as part of effort to rally Democrats to vote

CHICAGO–Progressive Turnout Project is proud to announce the endorsement of 113 state legislative candidates across Pennsylvania. These candidates are essential to flipping the Republican-controlled General Assembly.

These endorsed candidates will be eligible to participate in Progressive Turnout Project’s Campaign Fellows Program, which will bring an investment of up to $400,000 to selected Pennsylvania candidates by directly supporting campaigns with a paid staff member dedicated to voter contact. Adding just one full-time staff member can make all the difference, especially in state legislative races, which typically see less attention.

“Direct voter contact is essential to winning in Pennsylvania,” said Representative Jennifer O’Mara. “PTP’s investment in these efforts through their Turnout Fellowships will result in more conversations and more wins for Pennsylvania Democrats up and down the ballot. I’m thrilled to participate in and support this program.” Representative O’Mara is a member of Progressive Turnout Project’s Fellows Advisory Board.

This kind of direct voter contact is how elections are won—and PTP is thrilled to offer this level of support to Pennsylvania Democrats.

“We’re extremely happy to have the Progressive Turnout Project working with us to flip the Pennsylvania House in 2022,” said House Minority Leader Joanna McClinton. “Ensuring that our candidates have the staff they need is critical, and with the support of groups like PTP, we’re going to be able to provide that necessary infrastructure to our campaigns.”

“As Pennsylvania’s right-wing controlled General Assembly continues to legislate in creative ways to bypass our courts and Governor’s veto pen, it has never been more important to flip the House and Senate here,” added Senate Minority Leader Jay Costa. “Our party has the bigger tent and the better ideas; now, we have to work together with all of our partners in this space to show that to voters. We’re excited to be part of this project and get to work.”

Progressive Turnout Project is investing over $5 million to elect Democrats in state legislatures across the country to combat Republican attempts at undermining the future of our communities.
