CHICAGO–Progressive Turnout Project is proud to announce the endorsement of 48 state legislative candidates across South Carolina. These candidates are essential to gaining Democratic seats and fighting back against Republicans’ extreme agenda for the state.

These endorsed candidates will be eligible to participate in Progressive Turnout Project’s Campaign Fellows Program, which will bring an investment of up to $50,000 to selected South Carolina candidates by directly supporting campaigns with a paid staff member dedicated to voter contact. Adding just one full-time staff member can make all the difference, especially in state legislative races, which typically see less attention.

This kind of direct voter contact is how elections are won—and PTP is thrilled to offer this level of support to South Carolina Democrats.

“The Progressive Turnout Project has endorsed these Democrats running for State House because they understand just how important this election is to the future of South Carolina,” said House Democratic Leader Todd Rutherford. “We have so many high-quality candidates running, but that only matters if they have the support needed to build winning campaigns. The Progressive Turnout Project got involved early in the election cycle, and now they are backing candidates in key battleground districts. Frankly, we need other national organizations to follow this example as we work to elect more Democrats in South Carolina.”

“We are excited that the Progressive Turnout Project is investing in South Carolina,” added House Democratic Caucus Executive Director Nick Sottile. “It’s never been more important to elect more people who believe in making our state work for all its citizens. By endorsing these candidates, the Progressive Turnout Project is showing its commitment to electing Democrats in our red state. With so much at stake this year, we’re thankful for this support to get our candidates across the finish line in November.”

Progressive Turnout Project is investing over $5 million to elect Democrats in state legislatures across the country to combat Republican attempts at undermining the future of our communities.
