National group’s Community Mobilizers, Field Representatives to rally Democrats to vote

CHICAGO–Progressive Turnout Project will rally Georgia Democrats to vote for Sen. Raphael Warnock in the December 6 Senate runoff, extending the group’s innovative voter contact initiatives that supported hundreds of Democratic campaigns across the country this year. PTP is now expanding paid field teams, focused on distributed and relational organizing programs, to prioritize one-on-one conversations with inconsistent Democratic voters over the next three weeks. The additional investment will amount to roughly $1 million between now and Election Day.

“Since Labor Day, PTP has equipped more than 1,000 Georgia Democrats with the tools they need to rally their family, friends, and neighbors to vote,” said PTP Executive Director Alex Morgan. “We’re getting to work immediately to ensure Sen. Warnock can play a pivotal role in an expanded Democratic Senate majority.”

Community Mobilizers are at the heart of PTP’s relational organizing initiative, which will center on the metro Atlanta area and encourage connections with friends and family members. Relational organizing as a tactic has been proven to increase voter turnout up to 11 percent among key voting blocs, and PTP models its approach on Sen. Jon Ossoff’s 2021 runoff program.

Across the rest of the state, PTP will empower Field Representatives to knock on doors, providing tools and turf in neighborhoods in Augusta, Columbus, Macon, Marietta, Savannah and other suburban and exurban areas that are home to Democrats across purple, and sometimes even red, counties.

“We believe that we have to meet voters where they are in every corner of Georgia – from urban downtowns to rural coastal plans – and build programs that are unique to their communities and needs,” said Morgan. “We’re working to invest in a different way from the rest of the Democratic infrastructure. If we prioritize connecting with Democrats in every Georgia community, we believe Sen. Warnock will win.”

PTP has already recruited 1,391 Georgians to be Community Mobilizers and Field Representatives, and will continue to recruit through December 6.
