Warren Wins Progressive Turnout Project Post-Debate Flash Poll
More than 46% of grassroots supporters express preference for Massachusetts Senator

CHICAGO—Elizabeth Warren emerged as the winner of Progressive Turnout Project’s flash poll following the Democratic debate tonight in Detroit. Of the 11,143 participants who opted-in to the poll, Senator Warren earned the support of 46.9 percent of respondents in the hour after the debate.

“Elizabeth Warren led by saying that we need to be the party that fights for our democracy, and her message clearly resonated with our grassroots supporters who overwhelmingly deemed her the winner of tonight’s debate,” said Executive Director Alex Morgan.

The grassroots-funded political action committee conducted its flash poll immediately following the candidates’ closing statements by sending text messages to previously engaged activists, donors, and supporters who indicated that they planned to watch the Democratic debates. While the poll was not scientific, Morgan believes it is a strong barometer for enthusiasm among the Democratic party’s progressive base.

“We were impressed by the number of supporters who quickly responded to participate in this evening’s poll,” said Morgan. “While our base has their initial preferences, their additional comments to our text bankers made it crystal clear that their number one priority is coming together after this primary and defeating Donald Trump.”
The full results of the poll are as follows:

Elizabeth Warren 46.9 percent
Bernie Sanders 17.8 percent
Pete Buttigieg 16.1 percent
Undecided 5.2 percent
Amy Klobuchar 4.1 percent
Beto O’Rourke 3.1 percent
Marianne Williamson  2.2 percent
Steve Bullock 1.9 percent
John Hickenlooper 1.1 percent
John Delaney 0.8 percent
Tim Ryan 0.8 percent

“Progressive Turnout Project does not plan to endorse candidates in the 2020 primary,” said Morgan. “We’re proud to have a strong field of candidates who are talking about important issues like democracy reform and voting rights, and who will lead us to victory next November.”
