As Virginia’s 72nd Governor, he repeatedly fought off attacks from an extreme Republican-led legislature, and successfully restored voting rights to more than 173,000 Virginians, more than any governor in American history.”
“The Accessible Voting Act will be a major advancement for voters with disabilities through the expansion of options to cast a ballot, the creation of a national resource center on accessible voting, and new state grant programs to support the implementation of these measures.”
While today’s action is not a substitute for the comprehensive voting rights reform we need to fix our broken democracy, it is an important step that federal agencies can take today to protect and expand the right to vote.
PTP and its grassroots supporters urge Majority Leader Schumer and Senate Democrats to immediately introduce and pass this historic democracy reform bill that will protect and expand voting rights and restore accountability and transparency in government.
